• When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

  I first developed a passion for music at the age of five, when I would beg my mother to let me learn the guitar! She told me I could only learn guitar after I started piano.

• Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

  I would listen to Rachmaninov on a loop. His music is so diverse and emotional that I would never get bored of it!

• Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

  To a student of higher level I would challenge them to listen to a five voice fugue by Bach and notate a passage from it! (A very difficult feat)

• What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master, and why?

  It must be piano! In all seriousness the piano might not require the artist to worry about pitch during a performance but it makes up for this by being so mentally and physically challenging! Ten different fingers means ten different things to think about at once!

• What are your keys to success?

  I would say the keys to my success are practicing consistently no matter how motivated I feel, enjoying music and leaving time for me to play the pieces I love and learning from others!

• Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

  The three musicians I dream of meeting in a bar would be Bach, Rubinstein and Beethoven. Their lives were all so unique and complicated. They would have much advice to offer!

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

  In my earlier days of studying at the Conservatorium I had an upcoming performance and shortly before was applauded in a Performance workshop for the standard I had the piece at. I then relaxed and didn’t worry about practising that piece as much and when the performance came around I was disappointed by myself and my overconfidence!

• What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

  I would say it’s my ability to tailor lessons to every individual students styles and preferences. Everybody has a different musical experience and it’s fascinating to learn about All the different possibilities!
