Find out more about Vincent

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I began my academic journey in Management in 2015 at the prestigious London School of Economics. During my Bachelor's, I completed the CFA Level 1 and partook in multiple societies. After I finished my bachelor's with a 1:1, I decided to continue with my studies and complete an MSc Management & Strategy from 2018-19. I began private tutoring in 2017, and I quickly found myself enjoying the process of assisting ambitious students with their studies.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach a variety of subjects that are centred around Management, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, and Statistics. I am happy to talk about any topics that interest the student, but I'm very fond of Econometrics.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Dr. Revi Panidha has been an inspiration to not only my personal academic learning but my journey as a tutor. I had the pleasure of learning from him during my time at the London School of Economics and he taught me the MG205 Econometrics module. Which I have gone on to teach to many of my tutees across the past years.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

An ongoing pursuit of personal education and learning, helps to always remind the teacher what it is like to learn from scratch. The difficulties and the rewards that come from it. Constantly reminding ourselves as tutors of what the privilege of education is helps to ground our sessions.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember a professor from the Accounting department was furious when a student asked him whether there was a reading week. He explained by sending everyone an email saying we are too busy dealing with credit and debit so there is no room for a reading week.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I think Management as a course at university has changed a lot in the last few years, it’s an extremely valuable subject that ties in well to other more-popular subjects such as Economics & Finance. But the challenge for those studying Management is their abilities of statistics and baseline Mathematics.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Helping students with their studies is my passion, the process of educating individuals brings me a great sense of joy. I love the challenge that assisting each student brings, the uniqueness of their situation and the way they best learn.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

Many of my students resonate strongly with my time at top institutions such as the London School of Economics, many students seek to apply to such universities; my time studying there adds to the tutee experience.
