About Simon
I am a trained primary school teacher and English language specialist, with a strong background in communication, mentoring and learning development. I teach because I genuinely enjoy helping learners grow in confidence, develop new skills and discover that they are capable of more than they think. Whether a pupil needs support with English, literacy, reading, writing, comprehension, 7+ or 11+ preparation, or English as a second language, my goal is always to create a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated, challenged and proud of their progress.

I bring a strong mix of academic training and professional experience to my tutoring. I have a BA in English Language and Linguistics, postgraduate training in Primary Education, with classroom teaching experience across all Primary year groups and curriculum subjects, specialising in English and Literacy.
I work with primary-aged pupils, adult learners and ESL students, offering support in reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and communication.
My tutoring is personalised, encouraging and carefully structured around each student’s needs, confidence and goals. I aim to make lessons engaging, calm and purposeful. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though I can adapt session length depending on age and focus.
Alongside this, my background in mentoring, communication and senior leadership means I know how to build strong relationships with learners and help them make meaningful progress with confidence.
