About Lashandra
I have over 1000 hours of 1-on-1 instruction with students across three different curricula. I have helped students move from a C to an A in just a few weeks. I use progress trackers to show students how far they’ve come. This makes the intangible (learning) feel tangible (success).

My approach to tutoring is rooted in the idea that I’m not just a "fountain of facts," but a collaborative partner in your learning journey. I don't just hand over the answers; I help you build the mental scaffolding to find them yourself.
Here is how I break down complex knowledge and share it effectively:
1. The "Adaptive Mirror" Method. I believe every student has a unique "frequency." My first step is to observe how you process information. Visual learners: I use metaphors and structured formatting. Logical learners: I provide the underlying "why" and first principles. Practical learners: I jump straight into real-world applications.
2. Active Synthesis over Passive Listening
Sharing knowledge isn't just a one-way broadcast. To ensure the information actually "sticks," I use a three-step cycle:
Demystify: I strip away the jargon and explain the concept in plain English.
Demonstrate: I show you how the concept works in action (the "I do" phase).
Collaborate: We work through a problem together until you feel ready to take the lead (the "We do" phase).
3. The "Scaffolded Discovery" Technique
I’m a big fan of the Socratic method. Instead of correcting a mistake immediately, I’ll ask a targeted question that helps you spot the error yourself. This builds "cognitive grit"—the ability to stay calm and analytical when you hit a wall.
