About Marina
I am a pre-med recent college graduate from San Jose State University with a degree in Public Health and minors in Chemistry and Biological Sciences. I am currently completing post-baccalaureate coursework at University of California, Davis, further strengthening my background in the sciences. I have completed coursework including organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and calculus, which has given me a strong understanding of both foundational and advanced concepts. This background allows me to explain topics clearly and connect ideas in a way that makes them easier to understand.
I am patient, reliable, and focused on helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel overwhelming. I take the time to break down complex material into simple, step-by-step explanations and adapt my approach based on how each student learns best.
Having recently taken these courses myself, I understand the common challenges students face and how to work through them effectively. My goal is not just to help with homework, but to help students improve their understanding, perform better on exams, and feel more confident in their abilities over time. I focus on building strong fundamentals that lead to long-term success.

My Approach as a Tutor:
My goal is to help students truly understand the material, not just memorize it. I break down concepts step by step in a simple and clear way so students can build confidence and solve problems on their own. I adapt each lesson to the student’s level and pace to make sure they stay engaged and don’t feel overwhelmed.
Teaching Method and Techniques:
I start by identifying exactly where the student is struggling. Then I explain the concept in simple terms and walk through examples step by step. After that, I guide the student through practice problems and gradually let them work independently while I support them. I focus on building strong fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session begins with a quick review of past material or homework. We then focus on the current topic, breaking it down into manageable steps. I explain key ideas, work through examples, and have the student practice similar problems. At the end, I summarize the main points and give tips to help them succeed on assignments and exams.
