About Tracey
Hi, my name is Tracey. I am a social researcher, educator, and community engagement specialist with over 15 years’ experience working across schools, universities, public services, and community organisations. My work focuses on equity, social justice, and inclusion—and that’s exactly why I love teaching sociology. I teach sociology because I believe it gives people the tools to understand the world around them and make a difference in it. From issues of race, class, gender and power to debates on education, crime, health and migration—sociology helps us ask bold questions and challenge the status quo. I’m passionate about helping students: Build confidence in their ideas Think critically and independently Connect theory to real life and global issues Succeed in exams, assignments, and beyond Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-levels, or university study, I’ll support you with tailored sessions, clear explanations, and real-world insights drawn from my own work as a researcher. I bring a student-centred, inclusive, and real-world approach to sociology tutoring. Drawing on my teaching background in schools and universities I help learners connect classroom theory to lived experience—making sociology come alive. For GCSE and A-Level students, I focus on: Building confidence in core concepts (e.g. stratification, power, identity, education, crime). Developing critical thinking and essay-writing skills. Using current events and lived examples to link theory to practice. Preparing for exams with structured revision plans and exam technique coaching. For university-level students, I: Support deeper understanding of key thinkers and frameworks (Marx, Weber, Durkheim, intersectionality, feminism, postcolonialism, etc.). Guide students through assignments, literature reviews, and qualitative/quantitative methods. Offer feedback on argument structure, writing clarity, and critical engagement. Bring in real-world case studies from my own work in health, housing, and migration. Across all levels, I prioritise engagement, inclusion, and relevance, adapting each session to the student's pace, interests, and goals.
