I prefer to visualize a notion and represent it in my head rather than stupidly learn my course chapters, I use a lot of drawing and others visual supports.
Initially, I try to estimate the level of the student by listening to him/her, understand his/her aims, in order to adapt my speech. Once my estimate is done, I begin my explanations by not hesitating to emphasize the complicated concepts and often misunderstood by the students with a little reminder or a trick that allowed me to understand this notion in question. Then I stay tuned to the student while asking questions to check his achievements without stressing. Then I try to give him an overview of the theme to address in the form of a summary diagram or methodology to address his problems with presentations, writing, analysis and criticism of scientific papers.
