I hold a degree in English Literature from Frostburg State University and have experience as an elementary and middle school art teacher. I am also a published author, poet, and recording artist with a passion for helping students develop their voice, creativity, and confidence. My teaching experience and creative background allow me to bring both structure and imagination to every lesson.

As an artist who lives and breathes learning and creativity, my goal is to understand how you learn—then build lessons around the way your mind works best. I believe learning should feel engaging, encouraging, and relevant rather than one-size-fits-all.
My Teaching Method & Techniques
I combine the structure of my experience as a former elementary and middle school teacher with the freedom and imagination of an artist. Depending on the student and subject, lessons may include guided reading, discussion, writing exercises, creative prompts, vocabulary development, close reading, visual learning, storytelling, and hands-on activities.
For students who struggle with confidence, I focus on breaking larger concepts into manageable pieces and creating a space where questions are welcome. For students who already have a strong foundation, I look for ways to deepen their understanding and stretch their creativity.
A Typical Lesson
Every lesson is personalized, but we generally begin by identifying a goal for the session. We might review previous material, introduce a new concept, work through an example together, and then give you an opportunity to practice independently.
For reading and English, this could mean reading and discussing a passage, exploring vocabulary, strengthening comprehension, or developing a written response. For poetry and creative writing, we may explore a writing technique, read examples, experiment with language, and create something of your own.
I like to leave each lesson with a clear sense of what you learned, what you created, and what you can continue practicing.
What Sets Me Apart
I am both a teacher and a working artist. I understand the importance of academic foundations, but I also know that creativity can be one of the most powerful ways to understand and remember something.
My background in art education, poetry, literature, and creative expression allows me to approach traditional subjects from a different angle. I do not simply want students to find the "right answer." I want them to develop the confidence to think, ask questions, express themselves, and discover their own voice.
Whether you are working on reading comprehension, English skills, poetry, or creative writing, I want you to leave the lesson feeling more capable than when you arrived.

I work with elementary, middle school, high school, and adult learners, depending on the subject and student's goals.
