About Lyra
My relationship with piano began as a deep fascination with music’s technical and expressive possibilities. I pursued an M.Mus in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, focusing on both artistic performance and teaching methodology. Over 11 years, I have taught learners ranging from beginners to advanced performers, helping them master technical skills while exploring expressive interpretation and creativity.
I value a teaching style that combines clarity, patience, and inspiration. Lessons are tailored to the individual’s pace, ability, and musical interests, balancing technical exercises with expressive exploration. I emphasize reflective practice, musical understanding, and gradual skill development to ensure lasting improvement.
Outside of teaching, I remain immersed in performance, repertoire exploration, and continued pedagogical study. Teaching piano is rewarding because I see students develop confidence, artistic sensitivity, and the ability to express themselves fully through music, fostering lifelong musical engagement.

My lessons focus on finger independence, sight-reading, rhythmic accuracy, tonal control, phrasing, and expressive interpretation. I integrate technical exercises seamlessly with repertoire study, enabling students to see clear connections between skill development and musical expression. Each session encourages mindful practice, reflection, and progress tracking to ensure growth while maintaining engagement and enthusiasm.
Lesson plans are adapted to the student’s level. Beginners focus on note recognition, basic hand coordination, simple melodies, and foundational rhythm. Intermediate learners strengthen dynamics, articulation, phrasing, and duet playing. Advanced learners explore advanced repertoire, pedaling techniques, stylistic interpretation, performance preparation, and nuanced musical expression. Consistent feedback and guided exercises support steady and measurable development.
Piano lessons also foster confidence, patience, and creativity. Students gain both technical ability and expressive skill, enhancing their overall musicality. My goal is to help learners become fluent, confident, and expressive pianists who feel capable of performing and interpreting music with both skill and heart.
