About Tessa
My passion for piano began through a love of collaborative music-making and the joy of helping others discover their musical abilities. This passion led me to complete a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and later a Master of Music in Piano Performance. Over the past 6 years, I have worked with students of different ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence through supportive and engaging instruction. Teaching piano allows me to combine my love of music with my dedication to education.
A significant part of my experience involves group learning environments. I enjoy teaching duets, small ensembles, and keyboard roles within larger musical groups. These experiences help students develop listening skills, rhythmic awareness, teamwork, and performance confidence. Many of my students have successfully participated in school talent shows, community performances, and local musical events. I believe collaborative learning creates motivation while helping students grow as musicians.
Outside teaching, I enjoy performing, arranging music, and exploring different musical styles. These activities help me bring fresh ideas and energy into every lesson. Watching students develop confidence and discover their own musical voice is one of the most rewarding aspects of my profession. I look forward to helping learners build skills, create music, and enjoy the exciting journey of learning piano together.

My piano lessons focus on helping students create musical fluency from the very beginning. I believe learners should feel comfortable making music while gradually developing strong technical foundations. Lessons include finger independence exercises, reading fluency activities, rhythm training, chord recognition, ear development, and expressive playing techniques. Students learn how to connect musical ideas naturally rather than treating each skill as a separate task. I use practical exercises and engaging repertoire to help learners build confidence while enjoying the learning process. Every lesson encourages active participation and steady progress.
I adapt lessons to suit individual goals and experience levels. Beginners develop hand coordination, note reading, rhythm accuracy, and keyboard familiarity through structured guidance. Intermediate learners strengthen sight reading, dynamic control, accompaniment patterns, and duet performance skills. Advanced students work on interpretation, stylistic awareness, technical refinement, and performance preparation. Learners who enjoy contemporary styles receive support in playing popular songs, while those interested in community music settings develop strong accompaniment and collaborative skills. Regular feedback ensures students continue improving with confidence.
Music learning should feel rewarding and inspiring. My lessons help students become independent musicians who can understand, perform, and enjoy a wide variety of music. As confidence grows, learners often become more expressive and comfortable sharing their musical abilities with others. My goal is to help every student develop lasting musical skills while building genuine enjoyment and appreciation for piano playing.
