About Soojeong
Nearing 10 years of teaching experience, I also have over 15 years of performance experience from local competitions to global stages across Canada and the United States as well as in Spain, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and South Korea.
I am able to prepare students for their RCM examinations, offer theory lessons, and provide performance opportunities and accompaniment.
Education:
University of Toronto - BM in Piano Performance (full scholarship)
Peabody Conservatory - MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy; Graduate Performance Diploma in Piano (Recipient of the Artistic Excellence Award Scholarship)
Royal Conservatory of Music - Taylor Academy Alumna; ARCT Performer’s Diploma (mark 95)

Music is a valuable means of communication and an excellent gateway to developing necessary skills such as the capability to sustain a long and focused attention span, multitasking, and time management. While these skills are developed indirectly over time, I believe that the role of a teacher is to look for ways in which to help their students in a more direct form by guiding them to set short term goals, encouraging them to create a course of action to achieve these goals, and providing a safe environment to allow them to explore and experiment without the fear of making mistakes. To make learning more fun and effective, I will cater each lesson plan to suit students’ different learning abilities by allowing students to experience music through various means by sight, hearing, and touch, while incorporating motivating activities and inspiring creativity.
