About Zaya
I have 9 years of experience teaching piano to a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced performers. I hold a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, which provides me with expertise in technique, repertoire, performance practice, and effective teaching strategies. This enables me to design lessons that are comprehensive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s goals and abilities.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, individualized guidance, and encouraging artistic exploration. I help learners develop technical competence while fostering personal expression, creativity, and performance readiness. Lessons integrate exercises, repertoire, sight-reading, and improvisation to create a rich, immersive learning environment.
Outside teaching, I perform, explore diverse musical styles, and study innovative pedagogical methods. Teaching piano is profoundly rewarding because I witness students grow from uncertain beginners into confident, expressive musicians. My piano lessons focus on developing both technical skills and expressive musicality. Students explore finger independence, scales, arpeggios, sight reading, rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, and interpretative techniques. Lessons are designed to integrate technical development with creative expression, allowing learners to connect with music emotionally and intellectually. I emphasize understanding musical structure and stylistic nuance while building performance confidence, ensuring students gain both skill and expressive capability.
Lessons are carefully adapted to each student’s proficiency. Beginners learn hand positioning, simple scales, chords, and basic melodies, establishing a solid technical foundation. Intermediate learners work on advanced scales, arpeggios, sight-reading fluency, expressive phrasing, ensemble skills, and repertoire expansion. Advanced students refine stylistic interpretation, complex repertoire, improvisation, and performance preparation for recitals, auditions, or collaborative projects. Every session includes exercises, listening activities, and performance practice to consolidate skill development and artistic growth.
Beyond technique, piano lessons foster creativity, emotional connection, and performance confidence. Students learn to interpret music authentically, express emotion through phrasing and dynamics, and perform with poise and assurance. My goal is to help learners become confident pianists capable of both technical mastery and expressive artistry, nurturing a lifelong appreciation and love for music.
