About June
My journey as a piano tutor began with a fascination for the expressive possibilities of the instrument, which led me to pursue a B.Mus in Piano Performance and an M.Mus in Music Education. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with students across all ages and abilities, helping them develop technical mastery, expressive skill, and performance confidence. My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, individualized instruction, and encouragement, ensuring every student feels supported in their learning journey.
I focus on combining rigorous technical training with creative exploration, helping learners understand the mechanics of the instrument while discovering their personal artistic voice. Lessons are structured to balance technical exercises, repertoire study, improvisation, and ensemble practice, cultivating both skill and enjoyment. I encourage reflection, self-assessment, and goal setting to foster independent learning and consistent improvement.
Beyond teaching, I remain active as a performer and collaborator, bringing real-world musical experience into the classroom. Witnessing students develop technical skill, expressive artistry, and musical confidence is profoundly rewarding. Supporting learners in achieving their full potential as pianists and musicians is the most fulfilling part of my work, and I take pride in inspiring a lifelong engagement with music.

My piano lessons are carefully structured to help learners develop both technical proficiency and artistic expression from the very first session. I emphasize finger independence, sight-reading, rhythm training, dynamic control, and expressive phrasing to ensure that students build a solid foundation while enjoying their musical journey. Lessons integrate scales, exercises, classical and contemporary repertoire, improvisation, and ensemble playing, creating a well-rounded musical experience. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity while applying technical skills, and I provide consistent guidance, feedback, and motivation to help them progress steadily.
As students advance, lessons include complex repertoire, interpretive skills, performance preparation, harmonization, and collaborative projects such as duets or ensemble work. I also focus on developing listening skills, awareness of musical structure, and the ability to convey emotion through phrasing and tone. Lessons incorporate reflective practice, encouraging students to analyze their playing, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate achievements. I aim to nurture both confidence and independence, equipping learners with the tools to continue growing outside lessons.
Piano lessons go beyond technical skill—they cultivate patience, creativity, musical sensitivity, and emotional expression. Many students discover a deeper appreciation for music, enhanced cognitive abilities, and personal fulfillment through consistent practice and exploration.
