About Lyla
My path as a pianist and educator grew from a lifelong love for sound, expression, and the emotional clarity music brings. I completed an M.Mus in Piano Pedagogy, where I studied both performance and the art of teaching, gaining insights that continue to shape my lessons today. Over my 8 years of teaching experience, I’ve learned how transformative it can be when students feel truly supported. I focus on creating lessons that feel warm, encouraging, and thoughtfully tailored to the goals and personality of each learner. I enjoy working with students at every level and believe that patience and clarity are the keys to effective musical growth. My teaching style emphasises listening carefully to each student’s needs, offering structured guidance, and helping them discover confidence through steady progress. I value making lessons feel meaningful, not rushed, so learners have the space to build skills with intention. Whether a student wants structured classical training or a more creative, exploratory approach, I adapt my methods to fit their vision. Outside of teaching, I continue studying repertoire, exploring educational research, and reflecting on how students learn best. This ongoing curiosity helps me bring fresh, relevant ideas into every lesson. One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is watching students gain confidence—not only as musicians, but as individuals who are learning to trust their ability to grow and express themselves. Supporting that transformation is what makes teaching piano a meaningful and joyful part of my life.

Piano learning becomes truly enjoyable when students feel supported through clear explanations, gradual progression, and a calm environment that encourages curiosity. My lessons help learners build strong foundations in posture, hand shape, finger independence, and simple rhythmic understanding. I introduce concepts step by step so students can connect technique with comfort, allowing them to experience success early on. This stage builds confidence, reduces tension, and gives students a sense of steady improvement that motivates them to continue. As students become more confident, lessons expand into musical interpretation, scale technique, coordination exercises, reading fluency, and expressive shaping. I help learners explore how melody, harmony, and rhythm work together, giving them the tools to understand music rather than simply memorise it. We work patiently through patterns, chord structures, phrasing concepts, and artistic elements that allow students to develop deeper connection and independence in their playing. Each session is crafted to balance challenge with reassurance, helping students grow steadily and comfortably. Advanced lessons focus on tone control, dynamic balance, expressive nuance, pedalling technique, performance confidence, and musical storytelling. Students learn to approach pieces with intentionality, analyse structure, and express emotional depth through controlled phrasing and thoughtful shaping. I also guide learners through strategies for performance readiness, technical polishing, and consistent practice habits that support long-term growth. My goal is to help each student build a meaningful, confident relationship with the piano—one that nurtures creativity, discipline, and personal expression.
