About Louise
I'm a retired teacher but I keep busy working over Zoom with students. I absolutely love my academic subject and get so much satisfaction from watching students learn and grow in knowledge, understanding and as confident critical thinkers.
I've two grown sons of my own so I understand the pressures on students and, not least of all, on parents. I'm a person of warmth, highly intuitive, and someone who enjoys navigating a student through the process of exams and technique.
I've been tutoring for many years. I aim to make the subject of philosophy relatable to students in their own lives. I've had more than one student say he/she could never relate to the topic until starting tuition with me. Once a student can hook on to things relatable, they engage with the subject. This engagement is always evident in essay writing and is what examiners look for!

I've been tutoring for 25 years-- 17 of those in Religious Studies (Philosophy, Ethics and Christianity) A Level with O.C.R. and A.Q.A. I have excellent testimonials where students have reached 2 or 3 grades higher than their starting grades. I plan lessons with the student's strengths and weaknesses in mind. I instil confidence, regardless of their starting point. A growth in confidence is half the aim achieved! I focus not only on content knowledge but very much on essay planning, critical thinking and writing skills. I used to teach English before switching to philosophy.
My qualifications are: BA Hons Scholastic Philosophy; M. Phil. Scholastic Philosophy; P.G.C.E. in teaching English.
A lesson lasts an hour usually. I'd prefer A Level but do offer G.C.S.E. RS
