About Alistair
I'm a PhD student in climate science at UCL with a 1st class degree in physics from the University of Oxford. I love thinking and talking about maths and physics, and seeing complex topics finally 'click' for students is immensely rewarding.
My teaching experience includes volunteering as a tutor with the charity Action Tutoring, teaching English to children in Mongolia, and teaching a data science module to undergraduate students at UCL.
I work in person (North London) and online.

Making progress in maths and physics requires both developing understanding and problem-solving skills.
In my lessons, I use a mix of direct instruction to fill gaps in the student's understanding, and collaborative problem solving to reinforce the learning and prepare for exams.
I always work with the child at their level, using the first session to get to know them and how they learn, so I can plan a programme that fits their needs.
For university admissions help, I offer personal statement review and interview preparation.
