About María
Hello! My name is María, and I’m a Spanish teacher and hold an international PhD in Languages and Cultures.
My journey as a Spanish teacher began in my first year of university, when I had the opportunity to teach Spanish to adults from Canada and the UK. These students, who were teaching assistants in my hometown of Jaén, arrived with little to no knowledge of the language. They needed Spanish not just for work, but to fully enjoy their experience in Spain.
By the end of our one-month course, they were confidently holding conversations with native speakers and had made significant progress in their writing skills. Seeing their enthusiasm and rapid improvement inspired me to continue teaching Spanish.
Since then, I’ve taught and lived in Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Finland, gaining valuable experience in both language instruction and cultural exchange.
Thanks to my PhD, I now specialize in tailoring lessons to the individual needs of each student.
As a language learner myself—fluent in English, French, German, and Italian—I understand both the excitement and the challenges that come with learning a new language. That’s why I’m passionate about helping learners who are genuinely interested in immersing themselves in Spanish and developing real communication skills.
I believe learning a foreign language is not only a mental exercise, but also a powerful way to open our minds to different cultures and perspectives.

I have been teaching and learning foreign languages for over 10 years.
Throughout this time, I’ve seen how engaging, practical, and interactive lessons can make a huge difference in language acquisition. My teaching methods are always adapted to each student’s specific goals, level, and learning style, with a strong focus on real-life communication.
Lessons typically last between 60 and 105 minutes and are designed around personalized content and activities.
My students enjoy using the language in realistic contexts through role-plays, songs, and conversations based on topics they choose. Grammar is introduced through dynamic digital tools that help students visualize and understand concepts more clearly and intuitively.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the way I combine international academic training with an interactive, student-centered approach. I believe learning a foreign language should be both effective and enjoyable, so I always incorporate fun, meaningful tasks into my sessions.
I also love sharing the rich cultural aspects of the Hispanic and Iberian worlds, helping my students not only master the language but also deepen their cultural understanding.
My lessons are open to all levels—from beginners to advanced learners.
