About Gary
I am a novelist, non-fiction author, and radio broadcaster, with a career-long passion for teaching and tutoring. I love nothing more than to explore areas of the writing craft with enthusiastic, curious, and passionate students. My PhD was in fiction writing around climate change, I have written genre novels, and have a career in cultural journalism that has resulted in books in literary history and cinema. I present a radio show for the BBC and last year also became the co-owner of a record shop. But my main passion is for writing and literature.

I am known for creating a warm and positive space for growth and debate with my students, all the while guiding them through a meticulous curriculum of learning. I bring an infectious passion for writing and literature to the tutorships and pride myself on good relationships with my tutees. I have always had excellent feedback from students, peer appraisals, and grade averages. I believe attention to what writing and literature can do for a student as a whole will inevitably result in good academic work.
