About Lauren
In high school I became interested in how the world works, and why things are the way they are. This originally led me towards a BS in Physics and BA in Mathematics, but my curiosity took me even further to complete a Master's and PhD in Physics. My research focused on condensed matter and surface physics, where I studied materials at the atomic scale and published my work in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Communications and Advanced Materials.
Alongside my studies, I've had the opportunity to tutor students in Physics I and Physics II, helping them overcome challenging concepts and build confidence in their problem-solving skills. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing a topic that once seemed confusing suddenly "click."
I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance. My teaching style is patient, interactive, and tailored to each student's individual needs. Rather than simply working through problems, I focus on helping students develop a deep understanding of the underlying concepts, adding tools to their problem-solving toolbox, so they can apply these to solve new problems independently.

I'm a Physics PhD with published research in condensed matter and surface physics, where I studied material surfaces at the atomic scale. In addition to my research background, I have extensive experience tutoring students in Physics I (Mechanics) and Physics II (Electricity & Magnetism, Waves) and teaching Calculus 1 & 2, helping students improve their grades, prepare for exams, and gain confidence in their problem-solving abilities.
I believe physics isn't about memorizing equations, it's about understanding how the world works. My teaching style emphasizes building up individual students’ problem-solving skills by adapting lessons to their learning style. This ensures that difficult concepts become clear and manageable for students to eventually tackle on their own.
