About Graham
I am a newly-qualified teacher of Secondary English (PGCE and QTS certified), with an additional four years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (CELTA certified) to both adults and children in Japan and the UK.
Familiar with the OCR and AQA syllabuses for English Language and Literature, I have taught students at all abilities to help them achieve their potential at GCSE. Additionally, I have taught classes in TOEIC, IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation for foreign language students.

Having worked extensively in one-to-one and small group classes, I strongly believe in the importance of tailoring education to the student’s individual needs. We will work towards the assessment objectives using texts on your child’s school‘s examination board: I have experience in teaching the AQA and OCR syllabus.
I believe that the student should play an active part in their studies. In my experience, students’ recall and understanding is best when they find the answers out for themselves. As such, I give the students the opportunity to discover for themselves how and why the author uses the techniques covered in the syllabus. We will spend some time discussing the technique, and I will ensure that they understand what it means, and what effect it has; this will be followed by a reading exercise, where the student will be asked to pick out important quotations using the technique in question, and we will discuss how and why the author has chosen to use it, in a fun and engaging manner!
