About Melinda
Melinda Matticoli (She/Her) is an award-winning choreographer, director, and educator whose work bridges the worlds of dance, film, and visual storytelling. Originally from Skillman, New Jersey, Melinda launched her professional career at just 16, quickly establishing herself as a creative force. Melinda began her training at Broadway Dance Center’s Children and Teens program on the Jamison Novello Scholarship. As a performer, she has shared the stage with The Verdon Fosse Legacy, performing the iconic number "Who’s Got the Pain?" from Damn Yankees, and has collaborated with creators such as Parth Sethi, Steven Blandino, Kevin Jenkins, Aspen Waddell, and Nicole Fosse. As a choreographer, Melinda is deeply inspired by the relationship between music and movement—crafting work that highlights the dynamics between rhythm, pitch, and instrumentation. Her choreography has been presented at Choreographers Carnival, Club Jeté, Sybarite Love is Love, Club NYC, and other celebrated Off-Broadway venues, as well as on platforms like World of Dance. She has created music videos with Cold Weather Company and collaborated with global brands including Nike, Peerspace, Goldfish, Vimeo, and 8Greens. In film and directing, Melinda focuses on seamless transitions and fluid movement between bodies and the camera, creating striking visual narratives that merge her backgrounds in both dance and film. Her work has been commissioned by Dance Canvas, screened at Dance Films and New York International Film Awards, and recognized at festivals across the world. She is also a proud founding member of the Choreographers Guild. Passionate about education, Melinda shares her artistry worldwide, teaching at studios, conventions, and universities. She has been invited as a guest teacher at T Milly TV, Movement Lifestyle, Soul de Soul Dance Convention, Genesis Studios, Lume Dance, and the University of Pennsylvania, and serves on the screening committee for Dance Camera West. Guided by her mission to empower artists in their creative journeys, Melinda continues to inspire the next generation of movers and visionaries.

Customized to meet your needs!
Contemporary Fusion: This class begins with a flow-based warm-up and stretch to connect breath, body, and movement. Dancers will then explore improvisational prompts before moving into choreography. Each class will dive into a combination that emphasizes textures, dynamics, and musicality, while encouraging dancers to discover fresh movement pathways and expand their expressive range.
Improv: In this class, dancers engage with guided improvisational prompts designed to spark creativity and reveal new approaches to movement. Each session varies, offering unique challenges and opportunities to deepen self-expression. After each exercise, dancers will reflect together, sharing discoveries and insights about their experience. The class concludes with an open improvisational jam, allowing dancers to continue exploring, exchange inspiration, and learn through both movement and observation.
Dance on Film: This class bridges movement and media, offering dancers the chance to explore performance for the camera. After moving through guided exercises, dancers will finish with an on-camera session in a supportive, low-pressure environment. The focus is on developing confidence, adaptability, and film-ready presence. Dance on film can be taken as a stand-alone class or added onto a Contemporary Fusion or Improvisation session for an integrated experience.
