About Aaron

Whether it be through composition, performance, conducting or audio/video engineering, Aaron Zimmer is a musician dedicated to exploring meaningful and meditative musical experiences.
Aaron believes passionately in a comprehensive approach to making music; by participating in the production of music at every level, Aaron creates a more compelling experience for his listeners.

Aaron is a composer who has collaborated with top-rate contemporary performers. His music has been played by the members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, JACK Quartet, Bergamot Quartet, Brightwork New Music, Exponential Ensemble, Vicky Ray, Timothy Loo, and the Eclipse Quartet.

As a performer, Aaron specializes in contemporary trumpet and chamber music performance. Along with his solo playing, Aaron is a co-founder of the Baltimore-based new music quintet Bent Wrench which is dedicated to community engagement and the performance of cutting-edge repertoire. In May of 2024, their inaugural concert featured four world premiers.

Aaron is an active audio engineer and has recorded classical artists and concerts in the LA area. He has done recordings for Brightwork New Music Ensemble, University of Southern California, and Stacey Fraser.

Aaron graduated with his M.M. in composition from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he studies with Eric Wubbels, and Oscar Bettison. He is currently pursuing his second master’s degree in Recording Arts and Sciences with Scott Metcalfe and Ed Tetreualt. He graduated summa cum laude Bachelors of Music in composition studying under Sean Heim, Jeffrey Holmes, and Vera Ivanova.
