About Patrick

I am from New York and have an eclectic [pronounced EEEE KLEK TIK] background. I lived in Manhattan for 14 years and thought I would stay there forever. I went to college there, was a photographer, a Police Analyst and liaison to the NYPD for the Mayors Office of Operations, I worked in the Information Technology field and installed almost 7,500 new computers after September 11, 2001. There are so many things I did in New York, these are just a few of them.

I recently completed the classes for a Masters Degree in Psychology and also another Masters Degree in Education. I have not finished my thesis and Capstone projects because I am still preparing my research and writing. I am not in a rush because I have seen so many Americans destroy their lives because they posted a silly photo or wrote something on social media or they used other people's ideas improperly in their Masters or PhD academic writing. What we do online stays there forever. The one thing I want to teach my students is to not be shy but also not to be afraid of being original. It is always better to use your own ideas and have people call you a fool, then to use other people's ideas and later forget what those ideas were or why you used them and be unable to explain what you said or wrote.

I know how to write for the American online classroom from the Bachelor's level to the post doc level and I privately teach academic writing and research. I have been teaching English in some form or another in Asia for more than 12 years now. Currently, I teach English as a Foreign Language to children in Thailand between K and grade 6, it is the most challenging but also rewarding job I have ever had. I am really surprised how quickly time flies.

My Semester ends this month so if you need a dedicated long term tutor, I suggest you contact me because I have finished the coursework [but not yet thesis] for a Masters degree in Psychology and another Masters degree in Education. My first BA was at the City University of New York and they were not nearly as strict as online courses today with turnitin and APA format as well as writing centers. I recently finished a BA at Ashford University in cultural Anthropology and I kept thinking to myself that Ashford was nearly as rigorous as Walden and Kaplan MS program. So, I actually know how hard it is to research, paraphrase and make appropriate citations because recently I have had my work checked and rechecked and rejected a resubmitted endlessly in a vast number of social sciences. It is a different world today and for ESL students the burden, the stress and the need for scaffolding is higher than the travails I went through. I teach in person and online. March and April are a very good time to start up with me because I start a new semester as an in school teacher here in Thailand in May.

About the lesson

Either you have a plan and a specific need when we start or you have no plan at all I can help but please it takes a long time to get to know you and make such a plan for you. It is best you come to the table with a long list of strengths and weaknesses from your self assessment and reflection. It is best you have a job or study abroad or want to get along better with which kind of Americans now that you recently moved there or plan to move there and so forth. If you don't know these things before you hire me please do not hire me. I teach kindergarten through sixth grade from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM so I want to meet students online who have a dedicated plan and can articulate it [even in broken English] so that I might better serve them. If you know what you want and are honest with yourself, I can serve you. If not you are wasting your money. I spent more than 100,000 USD so far in my post grad education and every penny was worth it because I know beyond any reasonable doubt the things I set out to clarify and erase some of my ignorance about the human brain and evolution. Some people say I am crazy to have nearly completed an MS in Psychology and then go back and do a BA in Anthropolgy but I am sure where I am going and I don't care how many set backs and delays because I really learned things I needed in Education, Psychology and Anthropology. I am open to working with anybody but you should know that the children I teach grasp math, science and chemistry with more acumen than I can. I am very educated in History, Politics, Social Sciences and very weak in the hard sciences and math.
