About Kayla
About me: I graduated with honors in Wind Ensemble GT. I'm currently a college student in the concert band and I chose the flute from inspiration of my older sisters and its own unique sound. I aspire to be not just a tutor, but an inspiration and also a mentor your child looks up to to be motivated to learning how to play the flute. I do also have experience in working with elementary school aged children.

Hi there! My name is Kayla, and I am a patient flute tutor and mentor for elementary schoolers. I started playing the flute in elementary school myself, played all through high school, so I know exactly what it's like to navigate the school band world as a kid! Because I recently graduated, I remember exactly what challenges young players face. I know how frustrating it can be to get a clean note out, read new rhythms, or feel nervous about playing in front of people. —I am an encouraging mentor who wants to make music fun, approachable, and stress-free.What we will work on together:Learning the absolute basics (how to hold the flute, get a clear tone, and keep good posture)Reading sheet music, and counting basic rhythms in 4/4 time)Practicing school band music so you can feel super confident in class. I believe music should be exciting! My online lessons are highly visual, encouraging, and tailored entirely to your child's pace. We will celebrate the small wins, laugh off the mistakes, and learn new songs together as a team. I offer online lessons via Zoom or Google Meet ($15 for 30 minutes / $25 for a full hour).
