About
I was born in Peru, an amazing country with beautiful culture and people! The official language in Peru is Castellano (formal Spanish) but Quechua and Aymara (indigenous languages) are considered official languages in the jungle and mountains. For many years I lived in Arequipa, “La Majestuosa Ciudad Blanca” (the gorgeous White City). My life in there was enriched by this beautiful city and history. Arequipeños (Arequipa locals) are proud and strong people. They are called “El León del Sur” (The Lion from the South) for their bravery, unity, and sense of justice. There, I studied Physics and Psychology at the “Universidad Nacional de San Agustin” where I learned to value and love diversity and challenges!
In 2001, I moved to the USA and immediately fell in love with the diversity and awesome opportunities of this extraordinary country. At the beginning, it was difficult to communicate because I spoke British English and people spoke American English, so this became my first challenge! However, I studied hard until I was able to have fun conversations and interact with people. Nowadays, I live in Maryland, my second home, a great state with exceptional people. I graduated as Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology from Towson University in 2020.
My clients live in different states: California, Florida, New York, Washington, Georgia, etc. and countries: Perú, Pakistan, France, Spain, and Japan. Even though the different time zones make it difficult to meet online, we make it happen! With every client, I learn about different cultures and their unique ways to see the world. Because of my natural curiosity, I always discover something new and amazing.
Thanks to my students with learning disabilities, I have developed many techniques to identify people’s strengths. These clients have taught me that every person is smart and skillful, we only need patience, selflove and confidence to recognize it. My clients’ frustrations for not understanding a topic encourage me to look for different ways to teach complex topics in very simple and effective ways. Because I am an eager learner, I consider every student as a new opportunity to learn something interesting.
On my free time, I do voluntary work because volunteering enriches my life in many aspects. While I was at Towson University, I was a College Mentor for the College Readiness Outreach Program (CROP) and Event Coordinator for the Students Environmental Organization (SEO). As a College Mentor, I shared with ninth graders my personal experiences and challenges in college. As an Event Coordinator, I developed educational activities that present global and local environmental issues, as well as their solutions. I pioneered The Food Waste Awareness Day.
Many years ago, I was a member of the Baltimore Volunteers. My team cooked for our veterans in the Baltimore Station where they recover from addictions and homeless situations. I had many meaningful and enjoyable conversations with these warriors. Additionally, I was a volunteer for the Red Cross. This was fun and exciting because we worked together with the Fire Department and health organizations. Also, I was a Therapeutic Mentor at Villa Maria for the Catholic Charities. Kids live there for many sad reasons. I became their friend and role model and they taught me about strength and resilience. I love them all!
