About Tehmina
Hi, I’m Tehmina I hold a Computer Science BSc degree and A Levels in English Literature, Business, Geography and an EPQ (extended project qualification). I tutor across GCSE & A Level English, Business, Geography, Computer Science and GCSE Biology. My background combines both sciences and humanities, which means I can support students with a wide mix of subjects. I started tutoring because I’ve always enjoyed breaking down tricky concepts into simple, clear steps. Whether it’s guiding a student through essay structures, making biology more about understanding than memorising, or building confidence in exam technique, I tailor every session to the individual. Over time, I’ve worked with students from different exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) and seen how the right approach can transform both grades and confidence. Parents often tell me their child leaves lessons feeling more motivated and less stressed — which is exactly my goal. My teaching style is interactive, patient, and encouraging, with plenty of real-world examples (yes, even business case studies can be fun!). I believe learning should feel supportive, not overwhelming, and I always create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions. A typical lesson with me is structured but flexible, depending on the student’s needs. I usually start by checking in on how they’re feeling about the topic and quickly reviewing any homework or key points from the last session. We then focus on a specific area (e.g. essay structure in English, coding basics in Computer Science, case studies in Business, or map skills in Geography). I explain the concept clearly, using examples and step-by-step guidance, before moving into practice questions or exam-style tasks. I encourage lots of interaction — students can ask questions at any point, and I often use short quizzes, past paper extracts, or mini problem-solving activities to keep things engaging. At the end, I summarise the key takeaways, highlight exam tips, and set a short practice task for reinforcement. I believe every student learns differently, and effective teaching means adapting to those differences. Personally, I’m a very visual learner – I like diagrams, flowcharts, and colour coding – but I know not all students learn that way. Some prefer step-by-step verbal explanations, others benefit from practice questions or interactive activities. That’s why I tailor each lesson to match the student’s style. If they’re visual, we’ll use mind maps and annotated examples; if they’re hands-on, we’ll focus on practice tasks; if they learn best through discussion, I’ll guide them with questions and dialogue. My aim is always the same: make learning clear, build confidence, and help students enjoy the process as much as the results. Every lesson is tailored: some students need confidence-building, others need exam technique or deeper subject knowledge. I adjust my approach to suit their learning style and goals.
