About Lauryn
With years of classroom and tutoring experience, I bring both expertise and heart to every session. I’ve taught high school Film Studies, Writing, and College Prep courses—earning Teacher of the Year twice for my dedication and impact. I hold a bachelor’s degree in writing, was a TA at the university level, and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in nonprofit management, further deepening my skills in communication, education, and leadership. My approach is student-centered, supportive, and results-driven. I believe in meeting learners where they are and guiding them with clarity, patience, and creativity. Whether you're struggling with essays, preparing for college, or exploring storytelling through film, I’m here to help you gain confidence and master your skills. You can trust that our sessions will be professional, personalized, and engaging. My students leave feeling empowered, capable, and equipped—not just for their assignments, but for their future academic and creative endeavors. Let’s build something great together.

As a tutor, I believe learning should feel both empowering and practical. My approach blends structure with creativity—whether we’re crafting a college essay, analyzing a film, or breaking down the components of a compelling argument, I meet students where they are and help them build skills and confidence from the ground up.
My teaching method centers on real-world application, scaffolded support, and individualized feedback. I focus on helping students find their voice while strengthening fundamentals in writing, analysis, and critical thinking. Lessons are discussion-based and interactive, with plenty of opportunities for guided practice, revision, and reflection. For writing, I often walk students through the writing process—from brainstorming to final edits. For film or literature analysis, we explore theme, structure, technique, and meaning with a mix of guided questions, open dialogue, and creative exercises.
A typical lesson might include:
A short warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge or spark discussion
A focused skill-building segment (e.g., thesis writing, scene breakdown, persuasive language)
A collaborative work session (writing, editing, analysis, or outlining)
Real-time feedback and takeaway goals to track progress
What sets me apart is my dual background in education and the arts. I’ve taught high school IB and AICE film and writing courses, served as a TA in college, and earned Teacher of the Year twice. I also have a professional background in the creative industry as a screenwriter and producer turned author. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in nonprofit management. I bring a unique blend of academic rigor, artistic insight, and genuine care to every session.
My lessons are ideal for:
Middle school to college-level students
IB, AICE, or college prep writing and film courses
Students applying to college or working on personal statements
Creative writers looking to refine their craft
Anyone who wants to become a stronger, more confident communicator
Whether you’re aiming for a better grade, prepping for college, or just trying to make your writing sing—I’m here to help.
