About Casey
I've studied Chemistry at Caltech, Princeton, Reed College, and Harvey Mudd College. As a professor of 8 years I had an average 6.6/7 anonymous teaching evaluation rating among thousands of students with hundreds of positive comments about my ability to help students succeed during 1:1 interactions.
Fun fact: One of my first tutoring clients was a future-NBA player; I helped him improve his SAT score to attend college, starting his career.

Perfect! Recently, Casey has begun tutoring and assisting me in Chemistry. She is patient, kind, and exceptionally knowledgeable. Casey adeptly identifies any issues I encounter and provides clear guidance on how to address them. I highly recommend her tutoring services.
Perfect! Casey's great! I'm not a student, but I had an unconventional situation where I needed her help understanding a particular reaction pathway. Casey was totally up for it: knowledgeable, patient, and good at explaining concepts. I'm glad to have found her and I definitely recommend her!

Buckle up, this is a long one! But in summary, Casey is an incredibly patient, intelligent, and well-rounded person who left an indelible impact on me as a scientist/student/person. I was incredibly lucky to have her teach me both her chemistry knowledge and her approach to learning.
Casey was hands-down the most impactful professor-mentor-advisor combo to me in college. As a professor, she lectured in a very clear and concise manner that followed a logical flow. Her lessons included lots of example problems that allowed me to practice the concept in the moment which was essential to my understanding of such novel concepts. Whenever I visited her in office hours, she followed that same clear and logical flow to explain any issues I had. It completely structured the way I approached all courses following her course.
During my time interning in Casey’s research lab, she provided continual support in the lab (and let me tell you–it takes the patience of a saint to train 4 18-20-year-olds on very precise and delicate laboratory techniques. Glassware dropped, expensive chemicals spilled, data deleted…and Casey never wavered) and out of the lab. I decided halfway through the internship that I wanted to change my major to chemistry because of how amazing the experience had been. When I told Casey, her face completely lit up and she immediately jumped to help me plan my courses. In that moment (and many many more), I felt so supported and encouraged by Casey. During the subsequent schedule-planning sessions, she provided invaluable advice on how to navigate intersecting courses/unfulfilled pre-requisite courses by guiding me to the right person to talk to and how to talk to them. Her knowledge of the inner-workings of academic spaces was essential to my smooth path to graduation, even with changing my major halfway through my college career.
In my final year of college, Casey advised my senior project. At all steps in the process, she was enthusiastically involved. I wanted to emulate the same logically structured talk that Casey excels at, and she was very good at being attentive to both the small details that achieve this and the overall big picture of my talk. During all of our meetings she allowed lots of time to practice parts of the talk I wasn’t completely comfortable with and always gave thorough feedback. My project received glowing remarks from the reviewing professors and was the work I am most proud of from my college career. I couldn’t have done it without the constant and invaluable support from Casey.
I think Casey really excels at contextualizing small details within the big picture of concepts/problems. I always value her advice about all things academic, career, and life because of this unique talent. She has been an invaluable resource to me as a mentor, professor, and role model.
I was lucky to be connected with Casey through a friend. I did not have a strong science background in my undergraduate years so organic chemistry has been a challenge. I wasn’t gifted with photographic memory so I have to put in the effort to learn organic chemistry like everyone else.
Casey was extremely accommodating with my schedule and patient when tutoring. I have had tutors in the past say “oh this is easy” and just solve the problem. That doesn’t teach me anything! Casey on the other hand identified any mistakes I made, but instead of pointing out what I did wrong and doing it for me, she would ask questions in a way that I didn’t think about before. I would then identify where I made those mistakes myself. This was super helpful when we went over elimination and substitution reactions since that’s heavily tested if you’re going into the medical field.
I am not surprised she has her PhD, and I’m lucky to know someone who knows their stuff AND can teach. Thank you so much!!View more recommendations
