About Iris
I’m Iris, a native Mandarin speaker with a passion for sharing Chinese language and culture. I’ve worked as an architect in China for many years and now teach Mandarin at U3A Melbourne. My teaching style is patient, supportive and tailored to each learner’s pace. I enjoy helping students gain confidence in speaking and understanding Chinese while discovering the stories behind the words.

I make Mandarin learning practical, relaxed and fun for adults from beginner to advanced levels. My lessons can include pinyin, characters, vocabulary, conversation and listening—always tailored to your goals. I teach at U3A Melbourne and bring creativity from my background as a Chinese architect. I like helping students connect language with culture and real-life situations. Each class runs for about 60 to 90 minutes, either online or in person. Whether you’re learning for travel, work or personal interest, I’ll design the lessons just for you.
