I have a PGCE in Mathematics and been teaching for 12 years. I have taught and currently teach students from Year 7 to Year 11 and can tutor students from all of these year groups. I am also able to offer my services to students in Years 5/6 and IB Mathematics Studies.

My methodology is to always break down a maths problem into smaller chunks which can be easily understood by students. I view that repeated practice of a problem is important initially to understand a new concept. However, for progress it is essential to apply the learning to an exam style question
I will never complete a students homework for them or give any examples from their homework and ask them to copy. My experience as a teacher has shown me that this is detrimental to their learning. Rather, I will supply example questions similar to the homework questions and ask students to follow these.
Furthermore, I believe that tutor time should be spent teaching with student input. I will set individual work at the end of the majority of sessions which can be sent to me to mark.
Parents and students have often informed me that they understand maths better through the methods that I use and I hope that you giive me the opportunity to share this with you.
