About Amelia
Currently I am training to be a solicitor on the east coast of England. I first got into tutoring in September 2016 when, in an off chance an old family friend asked if I’d be willing to help their son out as they headed into GCSEs. Well the better part of ten years later and I’m still as passionate about teaching, and making students enthused about learning as day one. I have a cat called Ruby who makes it her life goal to assure students she’s just as passionate about their English skills as I am, and will no doubt make an appearance at some point during lessons. Presumably reminding me I’ve not fed her in the last six months (lies, promise.) Outside of Law and teaching, I am an avid horse rider, love swimming, and could read for the Olympic team. Oh and if it wasn’t already abundantly clear, I - for the record, think I’m blumming hilarious. A personal favourite pun is the time I came up with ‘Holme Page’ when helping a student out with Sherlock Holmes related homework.

Whether you: ✧ need a little help polishing up your essay writing skills, ✦ aren’t sure the difference between they’re, there and their, ✧ would like a firmer grounding heading into GCSEs, or ✦ just need some assistance pointing out why the author made the curtains blue. I might just be the tutor for you. Last bit wasn’t meant to rhyme but let’s pretend I meant to. I am an enthusiastic, passionate English teacher who loves making her students not merely understand and regurgitate the subject, but enthused about it. With over nine and a half years of experience tutoring at a range of levels and ages, I have sat with my fair share of stuffy English teachers and prefer to break the mould. I make lessons engaging, colourful and relevant to modern media. With the added bonus that I try to pepper the odd joke in here and there. Success rates on laughter unfortunately aren’t quite as good as my student exam pass rate, not yet at least but it’s a high bar as is.
