About Eleanor
I am a Physics PhD student at UCL, having achieved a 1st class BSc MPhys degree in Physics at the University of Warwick.
I have 6 years of tutoring experience in different levels of secondary school Mathematics and Physics education. I have recently just finished two years of GCSE Maths tuition, in which the student achieved three grades higher in her GCSE than her grade at the start of the tuition.
I am a very patient teacher and I used to struggle with science when I was at the start of secondary school. I took a lot of time to find my own methods of understanding the subjects that I found difficult. I find tutoring very fulfilling, as I can completely relate to the students struggling with new concepts and am therefore able to help them overcome these difficulties like I did.

I like to teach in a friendly environment, where the tutee feels completely comfortable to express themselves and tell me what they do not understand. As I used to struggle myself, I appreciate how daunting it can be to ask questions. I am a very organised person and have many effective revision techniques.
For an idea of a typical lesson:
I will initially talk to the student about what they know and how they feel about a particular topic. I will create a method of explaining the topic, often using colour, objects and whiteboards to keep the student involved. Beforehand, I will create a question sheet for us to got through together and then leave a couple for the student to do for homework. In the next session we will have a brief recap of the previous lesson to see how much they feel they understand it now. When the student feels comfortable, we will then go through exam questions together at their own pace. During this, I will highlight key points and ways to revise for the topic.
