About Jennifer
As a student of English and Spanish at the University of Oxford, I have developed a keen appreciation for my subject, and deeply enjoy sharing it with students. Formal education often minimises the interesting aspects of subjects and maximises the uninspiring; I specialise in delivering the most engaging content possible, engineered to go hand in hand with the exam mark scheme. An interested student will remember and apply a subject significantly better than one who is disillusioned and uninspired.
I attended a state comprehensive secondary school and sixth form that did not send many students on to top universities; of a sixth form of hundreds, my twin sister and I were the sole students to go on to Oxbridge. This is because we had discovered the key to learning in a self-motivated, interest-driven manner, which went hand in hand with prompting recall and understanding. It also made it essential for us to deeply understand the requirements of the application process; I have similarly applied myself to meticulously researching the mark schemes of exam boards such as OCR and AQA for GCSE and A-Level; understanding what the examiner requires is the first step to delivering.
My interests outside of university; aviation, with which I achieved a solo flight in an aircraft by the age of 17, ballroom dancing, with which I participated in the university dance team, and Taekwondo, for which I achieved my first degree black belt at the age of eleven, allow me to relate to a wide range of personalities and students. They also allow me to understand that time is of the essence while tutoring. Students often have a multitude of other things they would rather be doing, or in fact need to be getting on with. I do not believe in wasting time; maximum progress in the minimum time frame is always my goal.
I recently joined Superprof but have been Tutoring for over 2 years and can also be found on Find Tutors with a 100% five star review rating from many students.

I am currently a student at the University of Oxford studying English and Spanish. I have been tutoring for two years; my most recent Spanish GCSE student jumped from a grade 3 in her most recent mock to a grade 8 in her final exam after fourteen hours of tutoring together.
I have taught in person at prestigious institutions such as Concord College and have worked online with students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, both privately and with the esteemed agency Oxford and Cambridge Tutors. I believe that the secret to academic success is learning to work smarter, not harder. Students are often busy, stressed, and overwhelmed. A clear, concise and stress-free approach to learning is essential. Everybody learns differently - I offer free 30-minute evaluations before tutoring begins to as to concretely assess the best way to teach my students, and ensure that they reach their fullest potential in the shortest amount of time. I am passionate about improving student grades and also student confidence; the two go hand in hand.
As a younger tutor, I can relate well to students in a way that retired ex-teachers may not be able to. With me as a tutor, my clients feel as if they are speaking with someone who understands their position as students first and foremost - not someone from an entirely different generation who may be disconnected from the current experience of young people in the school system. I offer a fresh experience that will feel different from the school where they are spending so much time, and will allow them to progress significantly faster.
My genuine passion for my subject, aided by my positive attitude and supportive personality, allow my students to experience developing through their own merit, supported by an outside party, as opposed to being propelled forwards by an external force. I genuinely wish the best for my students; whatever questions outside lessons or extra help they may need, I am always available to respond, and will dedicate myself to ensuring that their experience is as positive as possible. My classes are structured, meticulously planned, and they last one hour. Recall, with recaps at the beginning of each lesson, is prioritised, with tailored learning programmes available for each client. Students are sent a complimentary feedback document at the end of every lesson. I have experience and expertise working with students of all ages; from 11+ to A level, the focus is individual learning styles and efficiency in reaching every student's goals.

Jenny has been tutoring our 10-year-old son and we’ve been thrilled with the progress he’s made. She is a patient, conscientious and highly professional tutor who makes every session engaging and enjoyable.
Jennifer is tutoring our Year 11 daughter, to help her with GCSE preparation.
My daughter has ADHD and autism, and Jennifer's communication and teaching have been clear, direct and really effective.
She's been extremely helpful in creating detailed plans for the tutoring sessions. She gives accurate and high-quality feedback on the work that's been covered, how well my daughter is doing and what needs to be strengthened. The overall support in terms of flexibility, helping us plan, and being absolutely reliable has been excellent.
Jennifer was originally only meant to be covering English Literature, but has also helped with Drama GCSE and even the written aspects of a Dance BTech. We've been impressed by her capacity to understand and explain what examiners want to see, across this broad subject range.
She's also built a lovely rapport with our daughter. As a result, our daughter has already seen one of her grades go up a whole level.
Jennifer is a total star, and we cannot recommend her highly enough.View more recommendations
