About Nicole
I’m Nicole, an Oxford University graduate with six years’ experience as a full-time tutor and a passion for helping students reach their full potential. Back when I was at school, I realised how much difference a teacher can make: the wrong one can knock your confidence, but the right one can completely change how you see a subject. That’s what I try to be for my students. I’ve helped take pupils from GCSE grade 3/4/5 predictions to solid 8s and 9s, but it always happens when there’s a real team effort; when the student matches the energy and effort I bring to our lessons. For me, teaching is all about connection: finding what makes each student tick and using that to build skill and confidence. I love figuring out how people learn best, whether it’s through conversation, listening, reading, logic, or creativity. There’s nothing better than seeing that 'lightbulb moment', when something suddenly clicks. My lessons are always patient, encouraging, and tailored to the student’s personality. Beyond exams and grades, I want every student I teach to walk away feeling more confident, curious, and capable in whatever they do next!

I like to establish a tutor–buddy dynamic, combining friendly mentorship with focused academic guidance. Each lesson begins with a brief check-in conversation, giving students a chance to share recent school topics, challenges, or priorities for the session. Lessons are 50 minutes long, an optimal duration for concentration following the Pomodoro technique, allowing for productive focus with space for reflection and discussion. My teaching style is structured yet flexible, adapting to each learner’s personality, goals, and preferred pace. I use a mix of interactive discussion, targeted exercises, and positive reinforcement to build both skills and confidence. I hold a Master’s degree in Modern Languages and Literature (French and Italian) from the University of Oxford, and have delivered over 3,500 hours of private tuition. I am also a native Spanish speaker. My experience spans students aged 4 to 18+, across French, Italian, and Spanish (from beginner to GCSE and A level), as well as English and maths (ages 4 to GCSE). I also specialise in verbal and non-verbal reasoning for UK school entrance exams (7+, 8+, 11+, 13+), with a proven success rate for entry into top public and grammar schools. Lessons are suitable for all levels - from young learners developing core skills to older students preparing for exams or seeking academic enrichment. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment where every student feels encouraged, understood, and equipped to reach their full potential.
