About Arun
I am a DPhil researcher in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford, with a professional background as a respiratory and critical care physiotherapist.
My clinical and academic experience has given me a strong interest in research methodology, critical appraisal and evidence-based healthcare. Through my own postgraduate research journey, I have developed an understanding of the challenges students can face when moving from learning about research methods to actually applying them to a dissertation or research project.
I want to teach because I enjoy helping healthcare students understand complex concepts in a practical and approachable way. My aim is not simply to tell students what to do, but to help them understand the reasoning behind what they are learning, develop confidence in their knowledge, and become more independent learners.
Alongside research methods and dissertation support, I can also teach cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, anatomy and physiology. My clinical background allows me to relate theoretical concepts to their practical application in healthcare and clinical practice.
I am particularly interested in supporting undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare students, including physiotherapy, nursing and other allied health professional students, whether they need support with research, academic work or developing their understanding of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, anatomy and physiology.

I am a DPhil researcher in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford and a respiratory and critical care physiotherapist by clinical background.
I offer one-to-one online research methods and dissertation tutoring for undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare students, particularly physiotherapists, nurses and other allied health professionals.
I can support you in developing your understanding of:
• Research questions and study design, identifying research gaps, turning clinical problem into an answerable research question.
• Quantitative research methods
• Critical appraisal of research papers
• Literature searching and reviewing the literature
• Dissertation and research project structure
• Interpreting and presenting research findings
• Academic and scientific writing
• Systematic and scoping review methodology
• Preparing research presentations and vivas
My approach is educational rather than simply providing answers. Sessions are tailored to the particular research problem you are working through, with the aim of helping you understand the methodology and become more confident in making your own research decisions.
My clinical and research interests include critical care, respiratory physiotherapy, mechanical ventilation, ventilator weaning, extubation and acute brain injury. I am therefore particularly well placed to support healthcare students undertaking research in critical care, rehabilitation, respiratory care and related clinical areas.
Sessions are delivered online and can be focused on a specific methodological problem, research paper, dissertation chapter or broader research-methods development.
I provide tutoring, methodological guidance and educational feedback. I do not write assessed work on behalf of students or provide services that would breach university academic-integrity requirements.
