About Lucy
I am a third year Classics undergraduate with an interest in aiding tutees to have more confidence with Latin, enjoy studying it, and achieve better results.
I recently studied Latin A-level and GCSE at The Godolphin and Latymer School, and so I am in a good position to offer advice on exam content, technique and revision. I have experience tutoring A level students, and offering beginner's Latin lessons with the 'Minimus' course to year 6 pupils to prepare them for beginning Latin confidently at secondary school. I am familiar with the Cambridge Latin course, so can help younger students to gain confidence and strong ability in Latin.
I can also give informal advice about the Oxford application process, including tips for personal statement writing and interviews, as well as applying for and studying Classics at university in general.

I will begin by determining what my tutee's targets are, then assessing what they understand well, and what areas they need to work on.
Based on the time remaining until the upcoming exam, number of sessions we are likely to have, and the aims of the tutee, I will make a plan of how best to use the time to improve the tutee's Latin.
Taking into account homework already being set by school/teachers, will set small tasks at the end of each session, like 20 words of vocabulary or a few sentences for consolidation.
Ideally I will spend some time giving the tutee some background information about the Romans, for example explaining the context of GCSE and A-level set texts, which makes studying them far more enjoyable, as well as improving the quality of literary analysis in the exam.
For the meantime I will do lessons online, but am also happy to do in person lessons when possible.
