About Laurie
My university background and education is in English and English as a second language, adult education, social studies, economics, and French. I have a B. A. in French, an Advanced Certificate in English, and a B. Ed. (A. D., Distinction), and obtained a Saskatchewan teaching certificate upon convocation from the college of Education. I never actually taught in the school system, but held a wide variety of jobs instead, before starting my own business in 2003.
All of my eclectic experience has helped me to become a better writer, a better listener, and I hope, a better teacher. My work with non-profits and ngo's has exposed me to a wonderfully diverse community, and given me the opportunity to learn about all kinds of writing, business models, grants and business forms, cultural barriers, and on and on. This real world experience, coupled with my rather extensive education, makes me uniquely qualified to assist a wide variety of learners in a fairly diverse range of subjects and skills development.

My approach is informal and lessons will be designed according to your learning style and level of comfort with the material. My goal as a tutor is to stop being your tutor!
