About ANISA
Hello! I’m a passionate and highly qualified secondary English teacher with a genuine love for helping students unlock the power of language and literature. With a BA in English Literature and Philosophy, I bring a deep understanding of the subjects I teach, paired with a commitment to making learning both enjoyable and rewarding.
My journey as an educator began with training under one of the UK’s top graduate recruiters, Teach First. This experience fuelled my dedication to teaching and led me to pursue a Masters in Education. I am currently furthering my expertise with an MSc in Child Development, continuously expanding my knowledge to better support students’ growth.
Rated as an Outstanding Teacher by both Ofsted and my employers, I’m known for my creativity, patience, and thorough subject knowledge. My approach to teaching is student-focused and aims to engage each learner’s unique abilities and interests. I’ve had the privilege of working in both inner-city schools in the North of England and London, where I’ve taught students from Year 7 to Year 13.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have a wealth of experience training new teachers, helping them develop their teaching methods and skills to become effective educators. I’ve also worked closely with exam boards, marking assessments and exams, which has given me a deep insight into exam standards and grading criteria. This experience enables me to offer my students a unique advantage by focusing on the strategies that will ensure they excel in their exams.
I also have extensive experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I am dedicated to supporting these students and have successfully helped them achieve passes in GCSEs and Functional Skills. My approach is tailored to meet their individual learning needs, ensuring they feel supported and confident throughout their learning journey.
Alongside my classroom and teacher training roles, I’ve been privately tutoring for over 10 years. My tutoring students consistently meet or exceed expected levels of progress, and I take pride in helping each of them achieve their academic goals. Every lesson is an opportunity to ignite curiosity and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
For me, teaching English is not just about analysing texts; it’s about fostering critical thinking and encouraging students to become detectives of literature—developing theories, searching for evidence, and explaining how their findings support their ideas. I challenge my students to think deeply, question the motives behind authors' words, and form their own interpretations.
Qualifications:
University of Hertfordshire – BA in English Literature and Philosophy [2:1]
Sheffield Hallam University – PGCE (Teach First) [Outstanding]
University of Manchester – MEd Leadership [Distinction]
University College London – MSc in Child Development [Ongoing]
If you're looking for an English tutor who brings not only expertise and experience but a genuine passion for the subject and the skills to support both students and educators alike, I’m here to guide and inspire your learning journey!
