About Quinn
¡Hola! ¡Soy Quinn!
Hello! I'm Quinn! I am a Law Student at the University of Ottawa, and have spent the past two years working abroad in Spain and Peru whilst studying the beautiful language of Castellano (Spanish!). I am Cambridge Certified as a B2 level speaker (High-Intermediate), and have 3 years of language teaching experience.
Although I am not a native speaker, I do believe that there is immense value in learning a foreign language from someone who has gone through the learning process themselves, and has overcome the hurdles, quirks, and irregularities that native speakers don't necessarily have to.
I believe that the best way to learn a language is to fully immerse yourself in the culture of that language, however, having a teacher or mentor along the way is essential to bridge gaps in the fundamentals like grammar and pronunciation. Often times people become too caught up in trying to memorize a ton of vocabulary or the redundancy of conjugations, neglecting the core steps that are needed to progress.

I have a holistic approach to teaching, including multi-media, developing listening skills as a necessity, speaking , writing, and grammar. One of the most common phenomenon that Spanish learners experience is "the freeze," when approached by someone in Spanish, they freeze-up, and claim that it sounds "too fast," unable to illicit a response! I've been there! Overcoming that initial barrier is essential, and I can help you do that with that right practice.
I am able to do lessons virtually.
