About Michele
I’ve taught for 11 years at both elementary and middle school levels. I am very passionate about teaching students how to decode because it opens up a whole new world to become someone who loves reading and feels confident doing so.
I hold professional certification in the following domains: Special Education Grades 1-6, Elementary Education Grades 1-6, and Literacy Instruction Birth-Grade 12. I’ve also been a reading intervention specialist for 6 years now.

An 11 year veteran reading teacher, I’ve taught students from ages 6 to 15 how to read and write fluently. It is my passion and using targeted strategies, specificallly Orton Gillingham and Science of Reading methods, I know your child will grow into a more confident proficient reader this summer!
I use measurable data to track student progress through benchmark assessments like the QRI and Core Phonics Survey to measure growth. I also use IMSE materials to explicitly teach OG targeted lessons in the areas of the 3 part drill: letter, sound, and blending drills all while using kinesthetic and tactile materials like sand trays and raised screens for writing. Students will have time to practice sight or red words, word and sentence dictation, as well as syllable division exercises when appropriate. Finally students will read decodable texts that address the skills well be learning each session.
