• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed an interest in tutoring whilst studying at university and helping my fellow students when working on assignments and completing coursework together.
  
  My interest in mathematics started in primary school as I was always curious about the applications of maths to everyday life.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach Mathematics at all levels of secondary including A Level. I like to discuss most topics in Maths, focusing on algebra to start with and often transition into geometry, probability, calculus and trigonometry.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  My maths teacher at A-level inspired me, I got on very well with him and he helped me to believe that in the future I would be able to pass on my knowledge to others.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  I believe the qualities required are good communication, adaptability, leadership and organisational skills.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  I remember whilst studying maths in primary school being informed by my parents that being good at maths would help me to count pocket money given to me. So the better I was at maths, the more money I could save!

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  I used to struggle at the start of secondary school to answer exam questions within the time limit, but I improved vastly on this and since then I've always completed exam questions ahead of time.

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion is more related to helping others by passing on my knowledge to them and communicating effectively when working in small or large groups in social activities. The skills I obtained from this helped me to transition to becoming an effective tutor for several years.

• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  My ability to make my lessons fun and engaging by relating topics worked through with the student's hobbies. My patience and passion for the subject has helped me to become a great tutor with numerous clients over the years.
