About Ignacio
I am a university lecturer and researcher specialising in the philosophy and methodology of the social sciences. My teaching experience includes courses on research design, epistemology, and methodological pluralism within Political Science and International Relations. I am particularly interested in helping students understand how theoretical and methodological choices shape the way we construct and interpret knowledge in social research. Having supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, I have guided students in clarifying their research questions, choosing appropriate methods, and strengthening the conceptual consistency of their work. My approach is reflective, pluralist, and adapted to each student’s discipline and objectives.

I hold a PhD in International Relations and currently work as a university lecturer and researcher in social science methodology and epistemology. My academic career has focused on understanding how methodological and theoretical assumptions shape research practices across Political Science and International Relations. I assist undergraduate and postgraduate students in developing their research projects — from formulating research problems and questions, to selecting coherent methodological approaches and designing feasible research strategies. Drawing on my own experience in academic and applied research, I help students connect abstract theoretical debates with the practical requirements of research design. Our sessions focus on the logic of inquiry, methodological pluralism, and the articulation between theory and empirical work. Depending on each student’s background, we can address the main methodological debates in the social sciences, the distinction between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods, and the criteria for selecting appropriate techniques within each approach.
