About George
Hi! I’m George. I'm 24, currently living in Solihull and working in specialist finance. I'm offering maths tuition from primary to A-level. My mathematical background consists of A*’s throughout GCSE and A-Levels, including Further Maths, and a 2:1 in Mathematics BSc. I decided to start tutoring informally during my final year of university. I have two younger cousins, one who was preparing for her GCSE exams and one for his end of Middle School exams. After my own lectures, I would spend an hour or so with each of them every week to help recap what they’d learnt in class and go over any difficult concepts. It was great to help them improve in a subject that I’m so passionate about and to see the progress they made towards their goals - and it also helped me keep my fundamentals up to scratch! I’m confident that my students could improve up to 2 grades from their predicted grade, given that we have enough time working together. You can expect your mathematical knowledge and computational ability to improve with every session that we complete together. As for what my students will get from me, I believe that tutoring requires being organised, driven, and (vitally!) being able to communicate complex ideas in digestible ways. These can all be the difference between a good tutor and a great one, so you can expect all of the above from me! As well as this, you can expect me to go above and beyond to ensure that my students have the support they need to learn and thrive. This can mean doing overtime after lessons to ensure the student leaves with more confidence than they started with, or helping with quick questions over text during the day. FIRST LESSON PLAN: Aside from getting to know each other, the first session is aimed at identifying the strengths and weaknesses. I'll ask a few questions to try and find out how well the student already knows different areas of the curriculum. Depending on time, we may go over any of their recent results to help with this. TYPICAL LESSON PLAN: My lessons will begin with a small warm-up exercise, to allow the student to switch to 'Maths mode' and to challenge their knowledge on different parts of the curriculum - either to test how well they remember concepts from previous sessions, or to gauge ability for future sessions. After this, we'll focus on a specific topic that needs attention. This could either be an area they're struggling with currently in school, or an area that we've previously identified through our sessions. We'll have a 'lesson' section where I teach, followed by a 'practice' section where we go through problems and examples together. I strongly believe that practice is far more important than listening to information when it comes to learning maths, so we'll aim to spend as much time as possible practising questions. At the end of the lesson, we'll spend a brief amount of time recapping what we covered and setting any homework to solidify knowledge.

Perfect! George personally for me has been fantastic. Lessons always feel positive and have a perfect atmosphere to hone and develop skills in maths. Since the start of our sessions, I’ve seen my grade rise pretty significantly up to now in A-Level Further Maths. Lessons are also really well structured and I always feel that I’ve gained or learned something new from them. I would definitely recommend George for anyone looking for a maths tutor.

George is a top tier mathematician having studied the subject at one of the top universities in the UK. He is also uniquely able to offer further maths A level tuition, a rare find amongst maths tutors on the platform. I would therefore encourage prospective tutees to take the opportunity to benefit from George's tuition as soon as they can!
George has been my tutor for a while and always makes the extra effort. He’s very knowledgeable in his field and tailors each lesson plan to best suit my individual needs. George takes time to make sure I understand each concept or equation and we’ve never moved on from a subject that I don’t feel confident about. Maths isn’t really my strong suit but George always finds a way of describing something logically to me in a way that I understand. I’ve noticed that he changes up how he teaches depending on whether you are a visual or auditory learner. If you decide to have lessons from George, you won’t be changing tutors anytime soon!
