About Oakley
I am an ambitious and highly motivated graduate with a Master’s degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Exeter. During my studies, I focused on climate science and, combined with my extensive travel experiences, I developed a passion for learning and a deeper understanding of the world around us. This journey has taught me that education is the cornerstone of a society that acts sustainably, works in harmony with nature, and remains open-minded to new opinions and cultures.

Being dyslexic has meant that I have had to explore many different ways of learning throughout my studies and tutoring career. I have found that learning through analogy and practical examples is one of the best ways to impart new knowledge. Furthermore, creating an engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes is extremely important, as I firmly believe there is no such thing as a ‘stupid question.’ By incorporating all of these aspects, I strive to make complex subjects accessible to all my students.
A typical lesson involves walking through a specific subject matter that my student is struggling with or wants to revise. I ask my students to inform me before the lesson about the subjects they would like to cover. I then create a tailored lesson plan with explanations and examples to review during the session. This may include past exam questions if the student is preparing for GCSEs or A-levels. I also set optional homework tasks to help reinforce the concepts we discussed during the lesson, which I then mark and provide feedback on in the following session.
