About Robyn
I’m best known for my work on Netflix’s Sex Education, although more recently I have also filmed as a regular on AMC+’s Sci Fi hit Moonhaven, as well as shooting for a new Netflix project. I have loved working on screen, but my heart may always belong on stage. I have experience in multiple stage roles, including King Lear, Macbeth and several bits of new writing. You may also have heard my voice work in the Guardian’s Podcast, Big Finish’s Dr Who Audio dramas, or narrating award winning audiobooks. I began my training at the BRIT school, studying Musical theatre for four years, then later completed my BA in Acting at Guildford School of Acting. As part of my time at GSA I sat in on the audition panels - I have seen more monologues than I can count! And am happy to say, I learned a lot about what works, and what doesn’t. As part of my training I studied various techniques including; Laban, Meisner, Clowning, Verse speaking, Stanislavsky and Screen Acting. We also covered vocal and movement training. I have been teaching for well over ten years, both in group settings and one to one. I am fully DBS checked, and have experience working with young people. I am passionate about inclusive working practices, and encourage you to share any access needs you may have ahead of our session so that I can offer you the best possible service. My goal isn’t to teach you one style that you must apply to everything, but to equip you with the tools you need to meet the various challenges in industry. I strive to create a relaxed and safe environment, which will allow you to grow and develop at your own pace.

As a teacher, my goal is not only to help you on individual performance pieces or scenes, but to equip you with the tools you need to continue to grow and develop. Every student is unique, and together we will find what works for you. I've been teaching acting for well over a decade, and have experience working with a wide variety of students of all ages and abilities. This includes working with neurodiverse individuals with different access requirements. I am fully DBS checked and have experience working with young people. My students have had success at auditions, and even gained places at drama school. DRAMA SCHOOL AUDITION PREP While at Guildford School of Acting I sat in on many audition panels and gained a unique insight into what works. I know first hand how challenging this process can be, and would be honoured to help guide you through it. Monologue Selection - we will work together to choose audition pieces that best showcase you both as an individual, and your acting ability. Monologue Development - we will play with your chosen pieces, ensuring you are completely comfortable both with performance, and redirection. Interview and Audition Prep - we will explore the audition process, looking at the challenges that may arise, and how to successfully overcome them. GENERAL ACTING SESSIONS If you want to improve your acting skills, we can work together on a variety of topics including: Building confidence. Approach to text. How to build and maintain a character. Vocal technique. Physicality. Working with verse/general Shakespeare prep. SCREEN ACTING/SELF TAPE As an experienced screen actor, I am able to offer guidance on screen technique and self tape preparation. This includes the nuts and bolts of hitting your mark and working with different frame sizes, as well as a more detailed look at the unique challenges screen work presents. I am also available as a reader, should you wish to work on a specific self tape. APPROACH TO THE INDUSTRY/CAREER DEVELOPMENT Being an actor is about more than simply acting. Working out how to market yourself, how to gain an agent, how to choose the right headshots - this can be so overwhelming! I will work with you to identify what makes you unique, and how to then best present this to the industry. We can cover Spotlight, networking, Equity and more. This is especially helpful if you are new to the industry, or are re-entering it after a break. LGBTQ+ SPECIFIC GUIDANCE/MENTORING Finally, I'm nonbinary, and I am always happy to work with transgender and queer individuals who may be feeling uncertain about how their identity will interact with their career. We can discuss things like: How to talk to production about pronouns/wardrobe needs. How to find roles that are suited to your gender identity. How to discuss your identity with your agent/industry professionals. What your rights are within the workplace.

I started interacting with Robyn on social media where they offer a lot of fascinating and fun tips and perspectives for actors. I have subsequently had a few one-on-one tutoring sessions with them which I found extremely helpful. Robyn is very friendly, patient and encouraging, and also flexible about how we use the time, which is typically working through a scene or a monologue. I typically find this boosts my confidence, and Robyn always gives me some new ideas and techniques that make the performance pop. I would highly recommend Robyn's actor coaching.
