About Claudia
Hi! I'm Claudia, an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a passion for helping students unlock their full potential. My journey in education is driven by a simple belief: every child can succeed when given the right tools, the right coach, and the right environment.
Professional Legitimacy & Experience
With a solid foundation in the Ontario curriculum and a background in classroom teaching, I bring professional pedagogical standards to every tutoring session. I understand the specific milestones students are expected to reach at the Primary and Junior levels, and I have the expertise to translate complex concepts into manageable, "lightbulb" moments. Whether we are tackling early literacy or foundational numeracy, my approach is grounded in proven educational research and classroom-tested strategies.
A Coach’s Mindset
What truly defines my teaching style is my lifelong background in competitive soccer. Having played through my post-secondary education and transitioned into coaching, I view the student-teacher relationship through the lens of a team.
Persistence: I teach students that mistakes are just "practice reps" on the way to mastery.
Energy: I bring a high level of enthusiasm to every lesson to keep young learners engaged and motivated.
Goal-Setting: We don't just "do homework"; we build the discipline and study habits that lead to long-term academic winning streaks.
Why Choose Me?
I am currently returning to the academic world with a fresh perspective and a dedicated focus on 1-on-1 mentorship. I pride myself on being approachable, patient, and highly organized. My goal is to be more than just a tutor; I want to be a mentor who reassures students of their own capabilities and provides parents with the peace of mind that their child’s education is in professional hands.
I look forward to helping your child build the confidence they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom!

As an OCT-certified educator, I bring a unique blend of classroom expertise and the high-energy discipline of a lifelong soccer player to every session. My goal is to bridge the gap between "doing the work" and truly "understanding the concept" through a structured, supportive environment.
My Methodology: The "Scaffolded Success" Approach
I believe that every student has a unique "entry point" to a topic. My teaching is rooted in Differentiated Instruction, meaning I adapt my language, tools, and pacing to match the student's specific learning style—whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners.
I use a Gradual Release of Responsibility model:
I Do: I demonstrate the concept clearly with real-world examples.
We Do: We tackle problems together, building the student’s confidence through guided practice.
You Do: The student takes the lead while I provide immediate, constructive feedback.
A Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan
To ensure every minute counts, I follow a consistent, goal-oriented flow:
The Warm-Up (5-10 mins): A quick "minds-on" activity or review of previous concepts to get the brain in gear.
The Core Lesson (25-30 mins): Introducing the new skill or tackling a specific homework challenge using interactive tools and clear modeling.
Guided Application (15 mins): Independent practice where the student applies what they've learned while I offer "just-in-time" coaching.
The Cool-Down & Reflection (5 mins): We summarize the "Big Idea" of the day and set a small goal for the next session.
What Sets Me Apart
What truly distinguishes my tutoring is my background as a competitive athlete and coach. I don't just teach Math or English; I teach resilience and growth mindset. I understand how to motivate students who feel frustrated and how to coach them through "academic blocks" much like an athlete overcomes a physical challenge. My lessons are high-energy, focused, and designed to make the student feel like they are winning at their education.
Who These Lessons Are For
I specialize in supporting learners at the Primary and Junior levels (Grades 1–6). Whether your child needs to catch up on core literacy and numeracy skills, requires enrichment to stay challenged, or needs help developing the organizational habits necessary for success in later grades, I tailor my curriculum to meet their specific Ontario Ministry standards.
