About Precious
Hi! I'm Precious, a recent graduate of NYU's Tandon School of Engineering, where I earned my B.S. in Business Technology and Management. I tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in math and science.
At NYU, I served as Head TA for 3 years, leading weekly trainings for other TAs, supporting students through tough coursework, and reviewing hundreds of assignments. My favorite part was always the moment a student finally understood something they'd been stuck on. Seeing it click still brings a smile to my face, and that's exactly why I tutor.
I also know what it feels like to struggle in a class. For me, it was English, so I understand how frustrating it can be when something just doesn't make sense yet. That's why I'm patient, I break things down step by step, and I never make a student feel bad for asking a question, no matter how many times they need to ask it.
Outside of tutoring, I'm a graphic designer, I love traveling (I've visited many countries and my list keeps growing), and I'm a die-hard Marvel fan. Fair warning: you might hear a superhero analogy or two when we're balancing chemical equations!
I'm organized, reliable, and I keep parents updated after every session. My goal is for every student to walk away more confident than when they started.

My teaching method:
I start every new student with a short, low-pressure check-in to see what they already understand and where they're getting stuck. From there, I break topics into small steps, explain the "why" behind each one, and work through examples together before the student tries problems on their own. As a former Head TA of Grading at NYU, I've reviewed hundreds of assignments, so I know the common mistakes that cost students points, and I teach students how to catch them before they turn in their work.
A typical lesson:
Warm-up (5–10 min): Quick review of last session and any homework questions
New material (15–20 min): I explain the concept and walk through an example step by step
Guided practice (15–20 min): We solve problems together, and I gradually let the student take the lead
Independent practice (10 min): The student tries a few problems alone so we can see what stuck
Wrap-up (5 min): We recap the key takeaways and I assign a few practice problems. Parents get a short update on what we covered and what's next.

I spent 3 years as a Head TA at NYU, leading weekly trainings and supporting students across a full course. I'm organized, patient, and I track each student's progress so lessons build on each other instead of starting over every week. I also tailor lessons to the student's own class, using their textbook, homework, and upcoming tests.

Middle and high school students (grades 6–12) in algebra and chemistry who want to catch up, keep up, or build confidence before tests. Whether your student is struggling with homework or wants to move from a B to an A, I'll meet them where they are.
