About Helen
I am a retired secondary English teacher. I taught 7th and 8th Grade English at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and taught sixteen years in the Buffalo Public Schools. I have NYS Permanent Certification in Social Studies and in English (both 7-12). I am the author of two books: A Sleeping Dog (a mystery) and Thoughts, Words and Ramblings (eclectic writing). My methodology is basically Socratic in nature. I developed a strategy which I call the CIA method. (Comprehension, Interpretation and Analysis) I also employ a multiple choice strategy that has proven helpful to many students taking standardized tests and specific exams (NYS Common Core Regents in ELA).
