About Kiana
I have 10 years of combined tutoring and teaching middle and high school students math. Throughout college this time, I have also tutored students in ELA as well as science (neuroscience). With my support, students have not only developed their procedural fluency, but they’ve also gained enormous confidence in their own mathematical abilities and thinking.

With experience as a special education teacher in NYC’s public schools, I approach students’ areas of growth from an asset-based perspective that allows students to be reflective in their learning. I have experience with both traditional styles of teaching math (I do, we do, you do) as well as more modern, inquiry-based learning; I’m comfortable with both. As we begin working together, I will listen to the student’s and family’s (if desired) preferences and recommendations about learning style and needs to inform my planning and instruction.

Details
Online tutoring sessions will occur at no additional cost to you. However, if you would like for me to travel to you, there will be a $15 charge per visit.
I am willing to negotiate prices for a variety of factors, including but not limited to the student's socioeconomic status, personal or familial income, or supply of academic materials. In other words, I may be willing to adjust pricing depending on whether I have to create the content or use external curricula.
