About Alexis
Although my degree is not in teaching, I have 6 years of experience homeschooling three neurodivergent children. I have been a tutor since I was a college student, trying to pay my way. I teach different classes at co-ops and create nature studies for the homeschool community in which we live. My degree is in nursing, so while I have a special place for science, I truly enjoy teaching all other subjects. Watching the educational system fail neurodivergent learners made me realize that I needed to find another way to teach my children. I meet children where they are, and focus on their strengths in order to build confidence in weaker areas. I tailor lessons to things that interest them, and build connections.
